READ TO LEAD - YOUNG READERS' CONCLAVE

Presenting the 4th Edition of Read to Lead, a community event hosted by Redbricks Education Foundation. It holds in store an array of activities including some friendly competitions, as well as workshops conducted by some of the best known children's authors, storytellers, illustrators and artists from around the nation. Children and adults of all ages can delve into their passion for quality literature and reading.

MEET THE EXPERTS

Ajay Das Gupta (Bangalore)
He is an editor based in Bangalore. Through 'The Kahani Project', he aims to bring together storytellers from across the world and make their work available to children of all ages.

Atanu Roy (Gurgaon)
He has published over 150 children's books, games and educational aids and is the recipient of many international awards and prizes for cartooning and illustration. He believes that, "the most important skill is not to be condescending towards children…a child is more interested in the content and not your name or fame."

Chetna Mehrotra (Mumbai)
An Applied Theatre Facilitator, she uses methods like using drama for learning, theatre of the oppressed, playback theatre, dance movement and more to create learning spaces for children, teachers, corporate audiences, women, men, senior citizens & others.

Lavanya Karthik (Mumbai)
A writer and illustrator for children, her books have been nominated twice for the Hindu – Goodbooks prize. Her novel, 'Ninja Nani and the Mad Mummy Mix-up' won the Peekabook Children's Choice Award, while her picture book 'Neel on Wheels' is on the shortlist for the Jarul Book Award and the Neev Book Award.

Nandini Nayar (Hyderabad)
Although the postal code of Nandini Nayar's home address says she lives in Hyderabad, India, in actual fact, she inhabits various worlds. Every morning, she sets out to travel to these worlds, ready to make a note of strange noises, smells and sights. That's how she's managed to publish fty books for children of all ages.

Neelma Masand (Ahmedabad)
An early childhood educator, curriculum planner and a story teller trained by British Council. She believes that story telling is a powerful teaching-learning tool as it facilitates the mind to inquire, wonder and think – thus forming a strong base for holistic development in young children.

Sandhya Rao (Chennai)
She loves to read, write, travel and learn about people in places. She lives in Chennai and believes that trying to speak dierent languages and sharing food brings people together. Some of her popular books are Ekki Dokki, My Mother's Sari, Picture Gandhi and Dream Writer.

Sowmya Rajendran (Pune)
She has written several books for children, from picture books to young adult fiction. She was awarded the Sahitya Akademi's Bal Sahitya Puraskar for her book "Mayil Will Not Be Quiet" along with her co-author Niveditha Subramaniam in 2015. Her books and stories are being used in schools and workshops across the country.

Tanvi Bhat (Mumbai)
She is a children's book illustrator who has illustrated over 18 books for publishers like Pratham Books, Amar Chitra Katha, Duckbill Books and Tulika Books and more. She works with watercolors and gouache and gets inspiration from things she sees when exploring the streets of colorful India.

Vineeta Nahar (Ahmedabad)
Vineeta Nahar is an artist and the founder of Active Hands. She designs activity kits for children aiming to improve their hand skills and express their imagination and divergent thinking.

Vishwesh Desai (Ahmedabad)
An 18-year-old with a fierce passion for reading and writing, he was 13 when he began writing his debut novel. His second book "Unrestrained Minors" is an anthology of short stories written by children he has mentored under his Project Bibliophilia. He is writing his third book and working on India's first online writing center.
